A 1955 ranch style home was transformed into a modern craftsman style bungalow.  The house is in a great neighborhood on a large lot.  The second floor addition was designed to maintain the scale of the neighborhood.  New windows, siding, and a front porch transformed the dated exterior while maintaining the basic foot print of the house.  With some rearrangement of the first floor rooms a public space was created at the front of the house for the entry foyer, dining room, and living room.  Two former bedrooms became the living room.  The living room features a stone fireplace, a long mantel, built-in bookcases, and a stained glass windows to create an authentic craftsman feel.  The existing kitchen, that had recently been renovated, and first floor bathroom remained in their original locations.  The new second floor holds a master suite, two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and storage areas.  While the aim was to capture a bungalow feeling, the idea wasn’t to go for an exact replica but rather a 21st century version.
